What the stone surface tells us
The visible face may be stacked stone or veneer. Appearance alone cannot show whether the load-bearing support is masonry, framing or another backing assembly. TV weight, VESA pattern, mount rating and arm leverage must match the structure actually found. We do not choose anchors solely from a decorative face.
Checks before drilling
- Confirm TV size and weight, VESA pattern and the bracket instructions. A pull-down or articulating arm adds movement and leverage compared with a fixed mount.
- Preview the seated viewing height, centering, mantel clearance and sightline before permanent holes.
- Review fireplace heat and manufacturer clearance guidance during realistic operation. A different wall can be the better choice when heat or viewing height cannot be resolved.
- Plan power separately from low-voltage signal cables. Stone construction may favor a surface raceway or a different equipment position over an assumed in-wall route.

Will every cable disappear into the wall?
No. Stone and fireplace construction can limit access. A neat surface raceway or a different equipment location may be safer and more serviceable.
